Register now! February 3, 2021: ISMPP U Webinar on plain language summaries

On 3rd February 2021 our Editorial Director Laura Dormer will take part of a a special 90-minute webinar by the International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP), entitled ‘ISMPP U Webinar: Plain Language Summaries (PLS) of Publications: Perspectives that will shape the future’.

The event is all open to non-members of the society, allowing anyone to learn about the subject. By taking part in the webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the top 10 key questions to be addressed relating to PLS of publications
  • Identify the opportunities for accelerating the uptake of PLS of publications, as identified by 6 key stakeholder groups
  • Consider how to apply the latest evidence and insights about PLS of publications in your organization

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion: The role of plain language summaries

The recent call to action published in the MAP newsletter from the International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP) has set out a roadmap for how medical publication and communication professionals can ensure equity, diversity, and inclusion in communicating scientific research. To ensure accessibility to medical information, they encourage authors to choose journals that allow open access as well as advocating the use of publication plain language summaries (PLS) for patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and researchers.

By making the results of our research easily understandable and freely accessible, we are empowering patients and the wider public, including those from disadvantaged communities, to take ownership of their health

Hear from us at the 2021 European Meeting of ISMPP

Our very own Laura Dormer will be speaking at the 2021 European Meeting of the International Society for Medical Publication Professionals (ISMPP) parallel session on ‘Patient Engagement in Publications: The ‘What’, ‘Who’, ‘Why’, ‘When’ and ‘How’. Taking place on Tuesday 26th January 2021, the session will look at key areas of the publication ecosystem where patients can and should be involved. Laura will be joined by an esteemed panel of plain language summary experts including:
