October is Health Literacy Month

October marks the start of Health Literacy Month – a time when health organizations, literacy programs, libraries, social service agencies, businesses, professional associations, government agencies and other groups can work together to integrate and expand the mission of health literacy – to build a world where all individuals have access to quality health outcomes.

Plain language summaries of medical and scientific research form one important step towards improving health literacy, providing patients with tools to help them make informed decisions about their condition and treatments available.

Future Science Group is a proud supporter of Health Literacy Month and throughout the month will be sharing various features on how we encourage health literacy across our journal and digital platforms. Find out more about the Health Literacy Month initiative here.
