Who We Are

Meet the team spearheading our Plain Language Summaries initiative

Rachel Jenkins

Head of Plain Language Summaries

Making science accessible to all is key in advancing the healthcare field. Plain language summaries make science easy-to-digest in a simple, visual format and provide non-specialists with the information that they need to understand research and engage and empower patients in healthcare decisions.

Johanna Todd

Senior Comissioning Editor

It is vital that patients and non-specialists are able to access scientific information and results from studies easily. Plain Language Summaries are able to provide this in a format that is clear and user friendly.

Olivia Alexander

Editor

Scientific developments should be easily understood by all members of the public. Plain Language Summary of Publication articles (PLSPs) are a great resource that make this possible. The combination of plain language, simple infographics and the visually appealing layout, allows anyone from the ages of 12 and above to be informed on new scientific findings. As an Editor of PLSPs, I am excited to work towards making science openly accessible.

Kat Berry

Head of Production

Plain language summaries are crucial for disseminating important scientific studies and advances to the lay person. With our visually appealing layout, custom illustrations and graphics, our plain language summaries communicate even the most complex of scientific studies in a clear and easy-to-understand manner so that patients and other non-specialists are provided with the information they need in order to understand and guide their healthcare decisions.

Sam Cavana

Head of Publishing Solutions

Scientific understanding should be not be gatekept with complex language. Patients want to be more engaged with their disease and understand more about their treatment options. Plain language makes science available to everyone and through open access available to all.
