Exploring the benefits of transcatheter aortic valve replacement for severe symptomatic aortic stenosis: a plain language summary

This Plain Language Summary of Publication article (PLSP) Journal of Medical Economics, evaluates transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) for treating severe symptomatic aortic stenosis (SSAS), a life-threatening condition caused by narrowing of the aortic valve. TAVR is a less invasive alternative to surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR), making it a viable option for patients ineligible for SAVR or those who avoid invasive procedures. The study assessed the health benefits and costs of TAVR across three patient groups: those ineligible for SAVR, those who would have opted for SAVR, and those who would have remained untreated without TAVR.
