This Plain Language Summary of Publication article (PLSP) from Future Oncology presents initial results from the phase 3 MARIPOSA-2 study in patients with advanced NSCLC having specific EGFR gene alterations (Ex19del or L858R) whose disease progressed during or after osimertinib treatment. Osimertinib, which blocks cancer cell growth, is currently a preferred first-line treatment recommended by NCCN. Amivantamab with chemotherapy has been approved by FDA and EMA for treating these patients, and NCCN now recommends this combination (specifically with carboplatin and pemetrexed) as a preferred option for patients with multiple tumors experiencing disease progression after first-line osimertinib.
