This Plain Language Summary of Publication article (PLSP) from Expert Review of Neurotherapeutics followed patients with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS), a severe childhood epilepsy condition, for two years after receiving vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) therapy. Most participants were children with cognitive impairment who continued having seizures despite trying multiple medications. VNS therapy successfully reduced seizure frequency, including drop seizures that cause falls and injuries, leading to fewer hospital visits and improved quality of life.
