Increasing accessibilty of plain language summaries through translations

Accessibilty is one of the key reasons for the development of plain language summaries of publications (PLSP). Ensuring all readers can access and read PLS leads to diversity and inclusivity within medical and scientific research. However for many readers, English language is not their first language. Therefore how can we make PLS accessible for all audiences?

For the authors of the recently published PLSP that describes a new treatment for endometrial cancer this was key. The authors therefore developed versions of the PLSP in Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese that are clearly accessible and can be downloaded alongside the English language version online.
